Blepharoplasty Photos

Eyelid surgery, also known an blepharoplasty, is a  procedure to remove excess skin  and fat from the  upper and lower eyelids, than can make you look constantly sad or tired. The result is a brighter and more rested appearance. Eyelid surgery can be done alone, or in conjunction with other procedures such as a facelift or forehead lift.

Good candidates for eyelid surgery are healthy men and women with no pre-existing eye problems such as glaucoma or persistent dry eyes have excess skin obscuring the natural fold of the upper eyelids have a puffy appearance (bags) in the lower eyelids making the eyes look tired have excess skin and fine wrinkles of the lower  eyelids.

Blepharoplasty is usually performed as an outpatient. Most commonly it is done using local anesthesia along with intravenous sedation, so that you will feel relaxed and comfortable. Excess skin and fat is removed from the upper eyelids, and when the incision is closed, the resulting scar will be well hidden within the natural fold of the upper eyelids.

The approach to the lower eyelid is either through an incision below your eyelashes or through an incision made inside your lower eyelid. This decision is based on whether or not there is excess skin to remove. Dr. Archer will discuss this issue with you at the time of your consultation.

Following your surgery, you will be asked to rest for one to two days and to apply ice packs regularly. This will help to minimize any bruising and swelling. Makeup can be worn after one week and most people are back to normal activities within 07-10 days. It may take several months for the swelling to completely subside, but the positive results of your eyelid surgery will last for years.
